Major and minor arcana: what the difference is for
Twenty-two cards everybody recognises and fifty-six nobody can name. Here is why the split matters when you are actually reading.
Scale, not importance
The majors are not the good cards and the minors are not the filler. The difference is scale. A major arcana card is about something structural: a phase, a reckoning, a thing you will still be thinking about in five years. A minor is about Wednesday.
What a spread full of majors is telling you
That the question is bigger than it was presented as. People ask about a specific fortnight and draw Death, the Tower and Judgement, and the deck's answer is that the fortnight is not the subject.
And a spread with none
Good news, generally. No majors means this is ordinary life, and ordinary life is the kind that can be changed on a Tuesday without anything structural having to move.
The numbers repeat for a reason
Every suit runs one to ten and then four court cards, and the numbers carry meaning across suits. Fives are friction everywhere. Tens are the end of something. Aces are offers. Learning the numbers is the fastest route into the minors, and it is forty cards for the price of ten.
