What is stored

When you take a reading, the site keeps the cards you drew, the spread you used, and whatever you typed into the form: a first name, a birthday, what you were asking about, and your question if you wrote one. It is kept so the reading has a permanent link you can come back to and send to someone.

The reading itself is not stored as text. It is rebuilt from the cards and the seed each time the page loads, which is why improving the writing improves every reading ever taken rather than only the next one.

For how long

Readings are deleted automatically after the period set in the site's configuration, by default a little over a year. Nobody needs their Tuesday night three-carder on file forever.

Getting rid of it sooner

Every reading page has a delete button on it. It removes the reading and its cards immediately, and the link stops working.

The form is optional

The button on the front page deals three cards with nothing filled in at all, and the reading it gives is a proper one. Every field on that form is there because it makes the writing better, not because the site wants your details.
